Have you imagined the impact it would have on a society if you changed its structure from a patriarchal one to matriarchal? In ōeru: a paradigm shift the consequences of this are explored in a theoretical alternative reality fiction, through the support of multiple media. In this new world based in Japan, women have a central role in their families and politics, while also providing a fair and equal workload for everyone. Here women live without the pressures and behaviors the patriarchy imposes.

This was my final university project, where I faced my biggest challenge yet – doing a supposedly group project alone. Due to unforeseen problems I had to work solo through the whole semester, for the biggest and most important class of the degree. No pressure. My biggest help was sectioning what I had to deliver and stick to my timeline like glue. Balance between work and rest was also extremely important, due to the amount of research and study this type of design requires. I had to keep working on everything (writing the multiple books, editing them, making the poster, creating some videos, designing and coding the website, then building an exhibition) and even though this experience made me stronger, I now absolutely appreciate a good group synergy more.
